My folks, for example, get on great. They don't fight and they never shout, but they do love a bit of banter and that's where things start to get a bit odd...
The thing is, they like to do their 'fighting' through the English TV presenters Ant and Dec. These guys are pretty big news back home in Britain and present all the biggest shows, during which they always seem to challenge each other to little tasks. This is where the olds get a bit crazy.
Dad is on Ant's side and mum cheers for Dec. A typical argument would be:
Mum - "Ant's rubbish, just look at the size of his forehead!"
Dad - "Have you seen Dec? He's like the smallest man alive, like a hobbit."
Mum - "Shut up! Dec is way better!"
Dad - "I've actually heard he's a bit of a love rat... Ant is a nice family man."
Mum - "Shut up you arse!"
I guess it's better than fighting for real but it's not normal... is it?
I'm thinking of starting a file on my parents weird ways, just to document it. This is case #1 - more to follow soon!
